A delegation of organic production sector representatives from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan conducted a study tour to Germany from June 8 to 12, 2026. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen knowledge exchange and gain practical insight into organic production systems, certification procedures, and market development in Germany.
During the visit, the participants visited key institutions and stakeholders in the German organic production sector. At the University of Bonn and the Wiesengut Campus, they were presented with current research and innovation activities in sustainable agriculture.
As part of the on-site meetings, the participants also visited Biohof Bursch GmbH & Co. KG, where they learned about organic farming practices, food processing, and the operation of a farm shop.
In Bonn, the participants visited retail stores and supermarkets selling organic products, providing a general overview of organic distribution channels and consumer markets in Germany. Meetings were also held with the Import Promotion Desk (IPD), where issues of export promotion, market access, and project implementation in the organic agriculture sector were discussed. Participants also met with the GOPA AFC office in Bonn, where they learned about EU regulations and policy frameworks for organic agriculture.
The delegation also visited IFOAM Organics International, gaining valuable insights into global organic production standards, policy development, and the international promotion of organic agriculture.
Overall, the aim of the study tour was to support capacity building for Central Asian stakeholders and promote the development of sustainable value chains in the organic production sector, improve certification systems, and strengthen cooperation between Central Asian countries and Germany in the organic production sector.
